楼下的关于性格，胆量的说法很对。其实方法也很重要。
初到美国，most Chinese students were worried about landing a decent job, get green card and yes, form a family.
Good English communication skill is critical for your career development and future long terms success in the States. It is very important to take advantage of the training and other assistance provided by your school or employer.
For example -
Most universities offer free English training and improvement classes.
Try to open up yourself to the new world and make friends with ordinary
Americans and people from other culture (In other words, try to break out of the Chinese cycle - you need both: Chinese and none Chinese friends).
Find a mentor and join a career and leadership development program offered by your employer
Practice public speech and writing
Sign up jobs at your employer to help sales/marketing, so you can practice presentation to strangers
Finally Get started early when you are still young and burden free (no family/kids, etc).
