I have background in physics, so tend to use physical laws to make judgements. To me, it is important to make decision based on calculations, not on emotions. Let's just do simple math: Divide the total available resources by the total polulation, you get the big picture. Remember, one cannot create something from nothing. This is the conservation of mass and energy. Now let see it simply:
-- The total resources of US > 2x of total resources of China (very conversative estimate. Personally, given the barren areas in Northerwester China, this figure may be much higher. Further consider the intangible resources -- you bet)
-- The total population of US ~ 1/5 of total population of China.
Conclusion: The probability to succeed, or even to run a decent life, is one order of magnitude lower in China than in US.
Disclaimer: This is definitely not true if your share of resources in China is extremely high, say, with connections to some high rank officers.
