what industries do you think are good targets for small to medium sized chinese software firm? any suggestions?
your post touched an idea i am think about for a while. that is in order to play to our strengths (low cost, abundant talent) and avoid the shortcomings(language skill, communication skills, business analysis on a client by client basis), maybe we can try to pre-made software package as much as possible, basically jamming as much functionalities into it as we can, make it easy to customize by the buyers (without or with very little coding), so the software needs little modification to satisfy a specific customer.
the reason for this practice is that it is the customer requirement collecting process, the analysis, the modification and so on, that need constant communication and other capabilities typical Chinese firms are not so strong.
of couse, small amount of customization work is always required in any case.
from your experience, do you think this pre-package idea is feasible in medium sized projects?
