As commented by some friend, he was not dealing this matter in a professional way. Firstly, he can not bargain again after having accepted the offer (as hinted in the article). Secondly, the reason was improper - the boss knew whether or not that this salary was enough to support his family. Even suppose it wasnt enough, it couldnt be used as a "Reason" - it is not company's obligation and interest.They just want to pay an amount to someone worthy paying. What he could do (if not accepted the offer") was to convince the boss higher salary was reasonable and whorthy paying.I think this is the key. Thirdly, negotiating salary by e-mail was a real bad idea.
