Background to the Appointment
Reporting to Executive Chairman, the CMO will be a member of the senior executive team and will work closely with the senior management to define an integrated strategy, refine the company’s brand, strengthen marketing and communications infrastructure and build and implement advanced business development functions designed to achieve revenue targets set by groups.
The CMO must be a strong leader with the ability to drive the development and implementation of strategic marketing activities, capable of establishing plans and be accountable for results.
The Position
Key responsibilities will include:
Strategy Development, Planning, Execution and Reporting
Prepare overall marketing strategy, including segments of PR, content operation, on-line marketing, off-line marketing, business development and sales
Develop programs with quantifiable objectives to measure results
Analyse market trends, recommend changes to marketing and business development strategies based on analysis and feedback
Prepare and manage the overall marketing and business development budget
Demonstrate a significant understanding in markets
Relationship Management
Identify, analyse, pursue and report on business opportunities with existing and prospective clients
Develop and enhance business relationships fostering existing and new business and heighten awareness
Continue development and maintenance of CRM solutions
Public Relations Management
Oversee the Firm's public relations initiatives including press releases, client advisories, advertising, marketing materials and publications and online marketing
Design and production of all aspects of visual marketing needs
Oversee all event planning
Management and Leadership
Build and maintain a high performance culture through effective performance management, communication and coaching of staff
Manage multiple projects, prioritize work and balance strategic and tactical issues
Provide clear leadership that establishes credibility with partners and attorneys and promote and foster a team culture consistent with the company's values
Ensure development of the existing marketing team and oversee the recruitment of appropriately skilled staff to new positions as and when required
The Background and Qualifications of the Successful Candidate
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge and experience in an appropriate mixture of the following areas:
Qualifications:
• More than 10 years in industry with a track record of developing comprehensive marketing and business development strategies.
• Experience leading the marketing function in a rapidly growing, international business in China and proven track record with start-up business is highly preferred;
• Excellent branding and marketing communication experience – high awareness of marketing;
• Good prioritization in delivering team and business objectives;
• Good understanding of SNS and Internet Markets;
• Strong commercial acumen and a personality that drives this across the marketing function;
• Good organisational and project management skills with knowledge of innovative and efficient marketing communications in China;
• Down-to-earth, a hands-on and non-ostentatious approach;
• Strong leadership and people management skills and able to manage ambiguity;
• High level of integrity, credibility, and a solid reputation;
• Maturity, self-confidence, positive approach to problem solving, seasoned judgment, good business instincts, well-developed sense of personal accountability.
• Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
