Summary: The Senior Solutions Engineer (Microsoft SQL/SharePoint) is a member of the Global Solutions Centre’s staff (based in Shanghai) who works with a cross functional team in order to design, build, validate, and document repeatable, proven solutions for the field sales organization, partners and customers. In addition, the Senior Solutions Engineer also designs and performs pre-sales proof-of-concept tests, speaks at customer seminars / engagements, and presents product/solution demonstrations
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide leadership for technical solutions, white papers, presentations, demonstrations, trade show participation, field sales and customer consulting, and customer briefing workshops
• Design and build Solutions around Microsoft SQL and SharePoint on utilizing EMC infrastructures to best practices
• Design and execute performance and functional tests and document these results as an integral part of the solution collateral
• maintenance and development of EMC hardware and software related to the validation testing
• Documentation of Proven Solutions in the form of Proven Solution Guides, Reference Architectures & Customer Presentations (including internal and external review process)
• Supporting the proliferation of the Proven Solution information to additional Knowledge Base systems (e.g. xWiki platforms) for further collaboration and consumption
• Executing customized Visual Studio SharePoint load test applications and industry-standard TPC-‘X’ benchmarking tools to drive performance testing of Solutions
• Supporting SQL & SharePoint deployments and configurations in other EMC and external testing sites in a consulting role
• Updating and testing new patches, hotfixes and upgrades to all software used in a SharePoint farm or SQL architecture
• Research potential new use cases, new software and technologies and contribute to the Solutions Roadmap creation by attending Solutions summits (twice yearly)
• Supporting and automating rotation of lab equipment
• Attend regular meetings and provide updates to management
• Architect, build and lead proof-of-concept tests to help the successful conclusion of sales
• Be a technical resource for solutions beta testing, develop test plans, participate in beta testing, perform site management
SKILLS
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL and/or SharePoint
• Knowledge of testing tools for SQL & SharePoint desirable
• EMC hardware & software knowledge desirable but not essential
• SAN experience essential
• IP Network knowledge an advantage
• Strong communicative and report writing skills
• Ability to work in a team is essential
• Able to handle multiple projects of moderate complexity simultaneously
• Shows initiative and may lead projects
Education Required:
Bachelors (Tech) or equivalent
Experience Required:
6-8 Years
