Responsibilities:
Our company Respiratory and Inflammation has set out to develop, qualify and validate novel methodologies and biomarkers to support the development of new treatments in respiratory and inflammatory diseases. Increasingly, such collaborations or methodology studies, as well as clinical trials will be run in China in collaboration with the best Chinese scientists and physicians. AZ also wants to stimulate respiratory and inflammation research in China through further interaction and collaboration with such scientists. The scientist will be the liaison scientist between Chinese investigators, the ICC in Shanghai and the Respiratory & Inflammation Research Area (RIRA) and Respiratory and Inflammation Therapeutic Area (RITA) staff.
Key job responsibilities include:
Supervise and support both pre-clinical and clinical exploratory studies of a collaborative nature as run by in China, including sample collection, transport, storage and analysis.
Provide day-to-day liaison between RIRA and RITA staff and Chinese investigators
Design, co-ordinate and supervise sample and data analysis at AZ’s ICC
Represent AZ R&I at Chinese respiratory and inflammation conferences and symposia, support R&I Key Opinion Leader network in China
Plan and run the Respiratory and Inflammation Virtual Research Institute in China, a yearly unrestricted research award competition that aims to stimulate and reward scientific excellence in the R&I field in China
Minimum Requirements:
PhD with more than 8 years in the pharmaceutical industry or significant postdoctoral research experience in relevant area.
Significant experience in one or more specific translational research disciplines relevant to biomarker development and/or special expertise in the design of clinical trials relevant to the assessment and/or validation of biomarkers of drug effect
Thorough disease area knowledge in respiratory, knowledge of immunology seen as an additional asset
Fluent (spoken and written) in both English and Mandarin
