International Trade Compliance Manager AP
Founded in 1889 and headquartered in Sparks, Maryland, Company & Company, Inc is the leading herb and spice company in the manufacture, marketing and distribution of spices, seasoning and flavors to the entire food industry around the globe. Customers range from retail outlets, food services and food processing factories supported by a total work force of around 8000 employees.
Company & Company has extensive business operations in Asia Pacific Zone covering India, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, China, Australia and Japan. Due to the expansion of our business in the zone, we are looking for the right candidate to fill the position.
Responsibilities
To provide leadership and expertise to multiple facilities to ensure Global Compliance to Import/Export regulations, include implementing, coordinating and ensuring consistent compliance practices on a company wide basis for the company’s trade compliance matters in APZ.
• Responsible for developing, directing and communicating Company APZ compliance programmes for customs in line with Global standards
• Develop policies and procedures for Import and Export Compliance for Company APZ
• Maintains documented International Trade standard practices and processes for Foreign and APZ Operations
• Identify opportunities for cost savings to include recommendations to government that effect changes in policy at the country level
• Manage the knowledge and application of Trade Knowledge to Corporate and business unit requirements
• Develop future state of International Trade for Company APZ and work with the Director-Global Trade in developing plans and future compliance
Skills and experience
Bachelors Degree required in Business Management or subject related degree (Masters Degree preferred in International Business or Logistics).
7+ years related experience in US global trade compliance to include government trade laws and regulations.
5+ years food industry experience (prior food knowledge in the areas of seasonings, flavorings and/or spices strongly preferred).
Experience in export/import regulations and U.S. Customs and compliance are required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English
• Combined Import/Export operational experience
• Experience in interacting with senior level management, government officials and all level of employees
• Experience in formal presentations, developing and performing training and ensuring understanding of legal and procedural requirements at all levels of the organisation
• Proven PD, ERP and Internet system skills required (SAP experience preferred)
• Organisational skills- Able to prioritise workload and have the ability to be adaptable
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate data and propose new methods and process changes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required- able to communicate up, down and across
This position is located in Shanghai and will report to the Director, International Trade Compliance based in Europe.
