Senior Program Manager


The mission of the Program Manager is to manage and control the overall solution by managing the changes in selected projects, to secure Delivery Precision and Customer Satisfaction in solution delivery. The Program Manager is a permanent role and position which is appointed by the Delivery Management Committee. The Program Manager role may be global and/or on regional / site level. The Program Manager constitutes the single point of command and control for the solution.

Role Context

• Appointed by the Delivery Management Committee (DMC) chairman
• Co-operates with the Customer to define the scope, goals and deliverables for the overall Solution
• Co-operates with an Account Manager who is responsible for the agreement with the customer
• Throughout the program working within the framework decided by the DMC

Key performance indicators for the Program Manager include delivery precision and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Power


• Responsible for a professional relationship with stakeholders. To build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the program
• Responsible for supporting the Account Manager (AM) in customer interactions and agreement work.
• Responsible for defining program scope, goals and deliverables that support business ob<x>jectives in collaboration with the DMC
• Responsible for establishing the Project Management Plan (PMP) for the overall program as well as the Project Management Plan for the individual projects in accordance with the commercial agreement and ensure it is communicated to all stakeholders.
• Responsible for planning, organising, reporting and following up the program in accordance with the approved PMP
• Responsible for regularly communicating information about the program to defined project stakeholders.
• Responsible for defining the program success criteria and distributing them to involved parties throughout the program life cycle.
• Responsible for determining the frequency and content of status reports from the Project/Program teams analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas.
• Responsible for identifying potential risks and establishing contingency plans.
• Responsible for managing changes and to re-plan the program in order to meet program ob<x>jectives according to DMC decisions.
• Responsible for delivering program results to the customer within approved assignment agreement and to report issues and deviations to AM/Delivery Management Committee (DMC).
• Responsible for ensuring solution quality in accordance with the project management plan for the program

• Shares knowledge & experiences with colleagues

• Follow-up of Delivery Precision (KPI) and Customer Satisfaction (KPI)
• Provide for continuous improvement for solution deliveriy through competency development and reuse of knowledge
• Performing Quality Assurance reviews of the selected projects and the overall program
• Reporting on solution progress & key performance indicators
• Ensure collaboration with other stakeholders and agree prioritization of changes


Additional responsibilities
• Function as a mentor and coach for colleagues.
• Beyond lessons learned – creating good practises and proposing improvement of project management methods, tools and guidelines.

Financial responsibilities
• Responsible for making the cost budget for the program and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary.
• Responsible to assist the AM in work with the customer (price) budget
• Responsible to track and control changes to the program, and to secure the approval of the impact of changes on the cost budget
• Responsible for working with and supporting the AM in reaching the expected gross-profit.

Personnel
• Responsible for staffing the program and the projects within the program
• Authorised to manage and distribute the work of the project staff according to the HR agreement.
• Responsible for setting and continually managing program expectations with/to team members and other stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
• Responsible for identifying and resolving issues and conflicts within the team.
• Responsible for the program member’s motivation and well-being in the project. Supervise project team members, contractors and influence them to take positive actions and responsibilities for their assigned work.

Education and / or Experience Recommended
• Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or similar.
• Good knowledge of the Volvo Information Technology computer environment.
• Good knowledge of the customer’s business, customer need and customer satisfaction.
• Ability to cooperate and to take decisions

• Excellent Project Management Experience
• Service adaptation to customer need
• Knowledge in Program & Project Method and Techniques
• Good knowledge of scope, risk, resource and cost management
• Ability to Motivate and lead a multi-cultural globally distributed team
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Good communication skills and Fluent in English
• Proactive and able to work in a very challenging environment
• Japanese language skills will be an added advantage
• Proven experience of working with stakeholders on an executive level or equivalent
• Proven experience of all of the following criteria:
- experience from working with different Business Areas / Business Units (BA/BU)
- different processes within the Volvo Group
• Successfully demonstrated experience of managing Business projects
• Proven experience of leading complex projects including factors such as:
- third party suppliers
- complex political situations
- complex HR aspects
- conflicting customer requirements
- significant business process changes

Locations
• To be ba<x>sed on China for the entire project duration (Maybe 1.5 years) with possiblitiy of frequent travels across Asia
