Software Department Manager
Role description:
The DSL R&D SW manager translates the company's and DSL team's objectives into a strategic path for the Software competence area.
People management:
• Responsible for defining and provisioning the current and future competences needed to reach the company's objectives. He/she is also responsible for defining and establishing the HR-strategy for his/her group
• In charge of defining and adjusting the balance between the different competences in the department. Therefore he/she manages a team of Thomson employees and consultants
• Manage the strategic and long-term training needs within his/her department
Budget management:
• Defines and manages the Software capital investment budget and expenses budget
• Be responsible for provisioning the current and future means needed to reach the companies objectives
Process management:
• Responsible for the definition and evolution of the global Software development strategy and takes strategic decisions in this matter
• Be in charge of the department's implementation of applicable ISO9001 and TL 9000 quality standards
Product evolution:
• Be responsible for the integrity and strategic evolution of the product
• Watch over the consistent quality of the subsequent product releases
• Responsible for the overall department's planning to be in line with the R&D milestones and the global project's priorities.
Competencies:
1. 10+ years working experience
2. Have a 3-5 years experience in leading a SW team of 20+ people
3. Has worked in a telecom environment before (not necessarily as manager)
4. Fluent in English
5. Preferably have worked in a foreign company
6. Preferably has studied outside of China
7. CMM and/or TL9000 aware
8. Has records of following people management courses
o Personality:
o Dynamic
o Structured
o Organized
9. Has worked in a telecom environment before (not necessarily as manager)
