Position: Sr. Technical Writer
Duration: Full Time
Justification: This key senior technical writer position within the Hopkinton Solutions Center will manage and support all technical documentation efforts including, although not limited to, customer product/solution demonstrations, product beta activity, customer proofs-of-concepts, EMC Proven Solutions and the Total Customer Experience (TCE) initiatives as part of the product/solution lifecycle.
Education: BS Technical Degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline
3-6 years experience in high tech as a technical writer.
Skills: Superior Technical Writing Skills – Hardware, Software and System Level
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
Excellent command of the English language.
Ability to successfully work collaboratively in cross functional teams.
Must be willing to take ownership of issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
Fundamental understanding of storage implementations (SAN, NAS, CAS)
Strong Analytical Ability with Project Management Skills
Direct technical writing experience with EMC Symmetrix, CLARiiON, Celerra, Centera, Legato, Documentum products / software is a plus.
Duties: Retrieves, organizes, analyzes and synthesizes complex subject matter and transforms it into easy-to-understand information for specific audiences.
Employs various authoring and desktop publishing software tools to produce finished products that include printed or electronic publications and integrated online help systems
Responsible for developing or executing project plans and schedules, and delivering accurate and timely documentation
Contributes to the development and achievement of organizational goals and objectives.
Represents the organization on project teams and may perform technical project leadership roles, while fostering teamwork and collaboration within and across work groups.
Anticipates issues and addresses proactively.
Independently plans, coordinates and executes documentation projects under only very general direction.
Participates in the design and development of documentation presentation, distribution systems, and existing processes, recommending solutions and improvements
Responsible for the creation and/or revision of hardware and software product documentation,
Exerts sphere of influence outside of work group or department
May seek customer input and take responsibility for customer situations, (internal and external customers).
